Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Review

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the fourth installment of the much acclaimed pirate movie series. It tells the story of Jack Sparrow's quest which leads him to the Fountain of Youth. I've gotten the opportunity to watch the 3D version of it at the cinema last week so here is my take on it...

It no longer co-revolves around humour as much as in the previous three POTC movies. Although, never let that statement fool you - it is still a good movie. It served its purpose and that purpose is to continue telling us the story of the exciting and thrilling life of Jack Sparrow.

On Stranger Tides takes you on a journey to understand more about the Fountain of Youth. Its myths, its rituals, as well as the hell one has to go through in order to drink its water. Never you'd expect the old just-drink-the-water-and-you-will-live-forever story about the mythical fountain to be expanded the way the team behind this movie did, making it a more interesting tale.

This movie also brings Jack Sparrow together with his old pal-slash-foe Barbossa, the Spanish monarch, a lover from the past, and also Blackbeard, dubbed "the pirate all pirates fear". This group brings with them a whole new flavour; new characters, new motives, new twists, new everything.

For me, this movie is a must watch. I give it an 8/10.
